A Place for Fun

Lowertown's vitality is reflected in its reputation as an entertainment center. Downtown Saint Paul's only movie theater is located in Galtier Plaza, as are a myriad of dining and entertainment choices - from ethnic restaurants and coffee shops to colorful saloons and jazz joints - located in the blocks surrounding Mears Park.

Part of the fun lies in Lowertown's distinctive turn-of-the-century "look" and "feel". Ornate Victorian lights brighten the streets and warm the festive nights. Mears Park, a popular lunchtime and evening gathering spot, serves as our village commons, filled with trees, flowers, benches, sculpture and even a rippling creek. Summertime brings outdoor concerts, performances, events and festivals, while in winter the park's many trees are festooned with hundreds of thousands of twinkling lights. Newly restored bridges across Interstate 94 serve as beautiful new gateways to the neighborhood.
